Carolinas Golf Course Superintendents Association, Rounds 4 Research
The Carolinas golf industry took a major leap forward last year with the success of the first annual Rounds4Research.com auction raising more than $55,000 for turfgrass research. This year’s auction promises to be bigger and certainly broader with Georgia, Texas and Virginia joining the program.
Golfers will be able to bid for tee-times in each region during the online auction that runs April 7 through April 21. Courses on offer will include everything from some of the most exclusive private facilities to the rock solid, blue-collar kind that underpins the golf industry pyramid.
In each region, proceeds will go to turfgrass research that is critical to the continued health of the industry. Turfgrass researchers across the country face acute budget pressures so anything golf can do to help them, helps not just our grass and our game, but also each state’s economy.
More than 300 tee-times sold last year and with those new golf-centric regions on board this year, that number seems certain to multiply several times over. Spread the word about Rounds4Research.com or go to the site now to see which courses have already pledged. You can also sign up there for an email reminder as the auction date nears.
